Mary Anne Tillman has officially been named as the new Principal of Batesburg-Leesville Primary School. The Lexington County School District Three Board of Trustees approved Mrs. Tillman’s new role during their monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 14th. Tillman joins Lexington County School District Three from Mill Creek Elementary School in Richland County School District One where she serves as the Assistant Principal.
Mrs. Tillman earned a Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in Music Education from the University of South Carolina in 2002. She holds a Master of Education in Divergent Learning with an Arts Emphasis from Columbia College as well as a Master of Educational Administration degree from the University of South Carolina. In addition, Mrs. Tillman is National Board Certified in Early and Middle Childhood.
Prior to her leadership role at Mill Creek Elementary School, she served as the Assistant Administrator at Horrell Hill Elementary School in Hopkins, SC. Since 2009, Mrs. Tillman has also worked as a Project Trainer for Pearson where she trains and mentors assessors for the National Board Certification process.
Mrs. Tillman is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, the National Association for Music Educators and the South Carolina Music Educators Association. She was named AC Moore Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year during the 2012-2013 school year.
Mrs. Tillman lives in Lexington with her husband (Brad), two sons (Samuel & David), and two dogs (Stella & Dolly). She will assume the responsibilities of her new role at BLPS in July 2023.
