On Tuesday, March 14th, the Lexington County School District Three Board of Trustees voted to approve Will McGinty as the new incoming principal of Batesburg-Leesville High School. Mr. McGinty currently serves as the Assistant Director at the Center for Advanced Technical Studies in Lexington-Richland School District Five. Mr. McGinty will assume his new role in July 2023 when current Batesburg-Leesville High School Principal Sonya Bryant transitions to the Lexington Three District Office to serve as the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Instruction.
Mr. McGinty is a graduate of Presbyterian College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and Bachelor of Science degree in 1999. He completed his post-graduate work at the University of South Carolina earning a Master’s degree in Education and a Specialist of Education degree in Educational Administration in 2011 and 2013 respectively. Currently, Mr. McGinty is a doctoral candidate at the University of South Carolina in the Educational Leadership program.
Prior to joining the leadership team at the Center for Advanced Technical Studies, Mr. McGinty served in several administrative capacities across Lexington-Richland School District Five including Administrative Assistant Principal at the Academy for Success, Director of Summer School, Interim Coordinator of Certified Personnel, and Assistant Principal at Dutch Fork High School. Mr. McGinty is a passionate educator who believes in cultivating a climate of academic optimism in which each child is challenged to achieve his/her greatest potential.
Mr. McGinty and his wife, Wendy, have three children–Jack Monroe (who is currently serving in the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant), Will Monroe (who is currently attending Clemson University and will be serving in the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant upon his graduation in 2025) and Elle Monroe (who will be attending Clemson University in the Fall of 2023). Mr. McGinty is a huge University of South Carolina Gamecocks fan and in his spare time, enjoys watching college football, playing golf, traveling and being active in his church.
