Lexington Three announces that Tuesday, January 21st will be a half day (please see amended release schedule below) for all students and staff in the district and Wednesday, January 22nd will be an eLearning Day. A low pressure system is bringing very cold temperatures and the possibility of snow to the Midlands area of South Carolina beginning Tuesday afternoon and continuing into Wednesday morning. Frigid temperatures will likely cause any snowfall and wintery mixes to turn into black ice, thus causing dangerous road conditions on both days. Lexington Three administrators prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and Panther families. Therefore, we will shift from our regular schedules on Tuesday and Wednesday. (Please stay tuned later in the week for any possible schedule changes for Thursday, January 23rd.)
Amended Early Release Day Schedule for Tuesday, January 21st:
On Tuesday, January 21st, Lexington Three will dismiss schools using the following amended schedule:
B-L Primary School will dismiss at 10:30 am.
B-L Elementary School will dismiss at 10:45 am.
B-L Middle School will dismiss at 11:15 am.
B-L High School will dismiss at 11:30 am.
Temperatures will be extremely cold on Tuesday morning, with wind chills between 10 and 15 degrees. Lexington Three encourages parents of students who walk a long distance to the bus stop to please consider driving them in a warm vehicle. In addition, bus drivers will allow extra time for students who are picked up at their homes to wait inside until their bus arrives. Please encourage all students to dress in warm layers.
eLearning Details for Wednesday, January 22nd:
All students in grades K4 through 12th grade will have eLearning assignments to complete on Wednesday, January 22nd. Students in grades K4 through 2nd grade will have written assignments to complete via paper packets. These assignments will be sent home with students on Tuesday, January 21st. Unless otherwise indicated by the teacher, all assignments should be turned in by no later than Thursday, February 13th. Please note that internet access is not a requirement for any of the Chromebook assignments to be completed. Students who have assignments that need to be completed using a Chromebook will have the work loaded onto their Chromebook prior to leaving school on Tuesday, January 21st. If internet access is not available at home, the completed assignments should be left open on your child’s Chromebook as they will automatically sync and update once the Chromebook is back inside the confines of our district internet system. All students in grades 3rd through 12th should bring their Chromebooks back to school when school resumes. Any student who has questions about an assignment can email his/her teacher.
After-School Events:
All after-school events including sports practices, meetings, games, adult education classes, etc. scheduled for Tuesday, January 21st and Wednesday, January 22nd are canceled.
Meals:
Lexington Three’s Food Services Department will send home a bagged lunch for students on Tuesday, January 21st as well as meals for Wednesday, January 22nd. Please check your child’s backpack for these so they do not spoil.
