Lexington School District 3 recently received a Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award for improving the nutritional quality of our school meals. Awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) in collaboration with Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK), Lexington School District 3 received the Small and/or Rural SFA Lunch Trailblazer Award for our work over the past year. The SFA has significantly reduced sodium levels in school lunches by implementing several strategies, including sourcing lower sodium products, finding substitutions for canned vegetables, promoting fresh, locally sourced vegetables, and using natural flavor substitutes.
These efforts have reduced the average daily sodium intake per meal across four schools from 1067.03mg to 1012.97mg, demonstrating a strong commitment to enhancing meal nutritional quality for students.
The 2024 Summer Olympics may not begin in Paris until late July....but here in Batesburg-Leesville students in our Summer Reading Camp are already striving for the gold! 🥇🏆
We held an official Opening Ceremony today for our SRC and students are SO excited to continue learning and growing over the next couple of weeks!
Panther stadium is under construction! We are working on improving drainage, irrigation systems and grading to ensure a safer, more level playing surface. We are also installing a more durable, high-traffic natural grass called Celebration Bermuda. We can’t wait until football season! Save the date of Friday, September 13th when the Panthers take on the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets for the first home football game of the season. GO PANTHERS!
The Batesburg-Leesville High School Sports Medicine team has been awarded the Safe Sports School 1st Team award by the National Athletic Trainers' Association. The Safe Sports School Award recognizes secondary schools around the country that take crucial steps to keep their athletes free from injuries. What a milestone for our sports medicine team!
2024-2025 B-L High School Beta Club Officers Hansel Discua, Zoey Rowe, Riley Bouknight and Joseph Jimenez presented a check to Generations of Batesburg-Leesville on Thursday, May 30th. The BLHS Beta Club fundraised the money after the facility recently suffered damages due to a fire.
Lexington County School District Three proudly announces commencement ceremony plans for the Batesburg-Leesville High School Class of 2024.The ceremony will take place on Friday, May 24th beginning at 7 pm in the beautiful new Batesburg-Leesville High School competition gymnasium. Admission into the gym is by ticket-only. Please note that the doors of the gymnasium will be promptly locked at 6:55 pm in order to ensure that everyone is seated when graduates process into the gym. All other spectators are invited to watch the ceremony via livestream in the Lexington Three Fine Arts Center. The event will also be streamed on Lexington Three's YouTube channel. On Wednesday, May 1st, B-L High School Dual Enrollment students participated in Midlands Technical College's Commencement Ceremony. Students were awarded either their General Studies Certificate or Associate of Arts degree. We are so grateful for our partnership with Midlands Technical College, which provides amazing opportunities for our BLHS students. Congratulations to our BLHS Dual Enrollment Class of 2024 graduates! We are so proud of your hard work and dedication.
Lexington Three's District Teacher of the Year Mrs. Shiniqua Mays served as the keynote speaker on Wednesday, May 1st at USC Aiken's School of Education's pinning ceremony. Mrs. Mays, who is a graduate of USCA, provided a beautifully motivating message for future teachers who will be entering their own classrooms next fall to start their education careers.
If you're looking for something fun to do this weekend come on over to the Fine Arts Center at 7 pm on Saturday for the B-L High School Panther Curtain Call! The Panther Curtain Call is a compilation of student directed and choreographed musical theatre classics. There will be songs from Les Miserables, Chicago, Legally Blonde, Six, Little Shop of Horrors and more! The showcase will feature students from The Panther Players, which is the BLHS Drama Club. Come out and show your support! Admission is free!
Lexington Three hosted its third "Farm to Families" event for select students and their families on Saturday, April 27th at B-L Primary School. Participants received a voucher and could choose from a wide-array of fresh produce, local honey, yellow grits, flour, and MUCH MORE!

Lexington Three's District Teacher of the Year Mrs. Shiniqua Mays had the privilege of attending the SC Teacher of the Year Gala in the Garden today alongside her husband, Marion. The event, which is known as the Academy Awards of teaching, was held at the Governor's Mansion and recognizes the state's Teachers of the Year while celebrating the vital importance of the teaching profession. Thank you, Mrs. Mays, for being such a terrific representative of the Panther Nation! You make us proud!
Prospective honors graduates from Batesburg-Leesville High School's Class of 2024 were recognized this morning by Midlands Technical College at the Batesburg-Leesville Chamber of Commerce's monthly meeting. The meeting was held at Shealy's BBQ where students and their families enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Students also received a certificate of achievement and a water bottle from MTC. We are so proud of our Panthers!
Wednesday, April 24th marked Administrative Professionals Day and we proudly celebrated our wonderful school and district secretaries, administrative assistants and other office professionals for their contributions to Lexington Three. We couldn't serve our Panther students without each of these individuals and we are so grateful for them! We held a luncheon in their honor at the District Office and sent them off with some beautiful flowers (Panther purple of course!) that we hope they will enjoy.
